Action Alert: Support OPRD Budget and State Trails Coordinator Position

HB 5026, the Oregon Parks and Recreation Budget is scheduled for a hearing in the Ways and Means Sub-Committee on Natural Resources, Monday, June 2, at 3 pm.

We support the OPRD budget and are asking for an additional allocation to make the limited duration State Trails Coordinator position permanent.

Send a quick email to the following committee members now!

Use your own words to:

  • share your support for the OPRD budget which is critical for maintaining our State Parks and Trails

  • request an additional $300,000 in General Funds be allocated to OPRD for the continuation of the State Trails Coordinator position through the biennium with the intention of restoring the position to a permanent status.

The State Trails Coordinator position is crucial for:

  • forwarding multi-jurisdictional trail projects and addressing system gaps

  • seeking and leveraging external grant funds to support critical trails restoration, improvement, and development projects beyond the capacity of state agency budgets

  • serving as a liaison between OPRD, other state, local, and federal agencies, and trails stewardship partners around the state.

  • ensuring that Oregon doesn’t miss out on the return on investment for Signature Trails development.
