Action Alert: Support OPRD Budget and State Trails Coordinator Position

HB 5026, the Oregon Parks and Recreation Budget is scheduled for a hearing in the Ways and Means Sub-Committee on Natural Resources, Monday, June 2, at 3 pm.Â
We support the OPRD budget and are asking for an additional allocation to make the limited duration State Trails Coordinator position permanent.Â
Send a quick email to the following committee members now!
Use your own words to:
share your support for the OPRD budget which is critical for maintaining our State Parks and Trails
request an additional $300,000 in General Funds be allocated to OPRD for the continuation of the State Trails Coordinator position through the biennium with the intention of restoring the position to a permanent status.Â
The State Trails Coordinator position is crucial for:
forwarding multi-jurisdictional trail projects and addressing system gapsÂ
seeking and leveraging external grant funds to support critical trails restoration, improvement, and development projects beyond the capacity of state agency budgets
serving as a liaison between OPRD, other state, local, and federal agencies, and trails stewardship partners around the state.Â
ensuring that Oregon doesn’t miss out on the return on investment for Signature Trails development.
