Extend the Legacy Restoration Fund

Passed by Congress in 2020, the Great American Outdoors Act (GAOA) dedicated billions in funding to address the maintenance backlog on public lands through the Legacy Restoration Fund (LRF).

In the last five years, the Legacy Restoration Fund (LRF) has restored recreation assets at parks and public lands that are important to the outdoor community, such as trails, campsites, restrooms, ranger stations, roads, bridges, and other critical infrastructure that supports visitor experiences. However, the fund expires in September and public lands and waters still face a $41B maintenance backlog across the country.

This issue is especially critical in Oregon where more than 50% of our land base (and the sites of many of our beloved trails!) is comprised of federally-managed lands.

Contact your Congress people directly and ask them to renew the Legacy Restoration Fund this session to protect trails and public lands or visit the Outdoor Alliance's Legacy Restoration Fund story map to learn more and contact congress through their form.
