Have you ever tried crossing the Bridge of the Gods over the Columba River by any means other than in a car? I rode my bike across it once, in 2003, and it took me about a half hour of sitting and shaking on the Washington side to recover from the harrowing experience.
HB 3378 would appropriate $1,500,000 of Oregon general funds to design and engineering for a bike, pedestrian, and equestrian lane for the bridge that will hopefully receive some federal infrastructure dollars down the road. This investment is long overdue for trail users trying to complete the Pacific Crest Trail on foot or horseback or enjoying the other trails and bike rides in the Gorge.
The Oregon Trails Coalition submitted this testimony in support of the bill.
